Made in England: The Films of Powell & Pressburger watch the trailer for the new documentary

Made in England: The Films of Powell & Pressburger is a new documentary presented by Martin Scorsese, who invites audiences to rediscover the great classic films from English directors Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. They collaborated on 24 films between 1939 and 1972, including the visually striking masterpieces Black Narcissus, The Red Shoes, A Matter of Life and Death and The Tales of Hoffmann.

Directed by David Hinton and narrated by Scorsese himself, this documentary is not just a film but a heartfelt exploration of the visionary British filmmakers who shaped Scorsese’s own cinematic journey. It delves into the genius of Powell and Pressburger, the creative duo behind timeless classics known for their Technicolor mastery and dreamlike quality.

The film will be playing at the BFI in London and in select cinemas before streaming on MUBI.
