David Michôd’s Christy, starring Sydney Sweeney and Ben Foster, gets a UK release date

Black Bear is set to release the highly anticipated biopic Christy, starring Sydney Sweeney and Ben Foster, in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 28th November.

Christy Martin (Sydney Sweeney) never imagined life beyond her small-town roots in West Virginia—until she discovered a knack for punching people. Fueled by grit, raw determination, and an unshakable desire to win, she charges into the world of boxing under the guidance of her trainer and manager-turned-husband, Jim (Ben Foster).

But while Christy flaunts a fiery persona in the ring, her toughest battles unfold outside it—confronting family, identity, and a relationship that just might become life-or-death. Based on remarkable true events, Christy Martin’s story is one of resilience, courage, and the fight to reclaim one’s life.

Directed by David Michôd (Animal Kingdom, The King, The Rover), Christy tells the remarkable true story of Christy Martin, a small-town woman who became one of boxing’s most trailblazing and controversial figures.

The film had its world premiere at TIFF on September 5 and will premiere in the UK at the 69th BFI London Film Festival, as a Headline Gala, on October 17, ahead of its release in UK and Irish cinemas.
