First Look at The House on Lidderman Street

Author and screenwriter, Andrew David Barker, returns to the director’s chair for micro-budget chiller, The House on Lidderman Street, based upon his own short story. Shot over 8 days in the autumn of 2024, Barker’s first feature film in over a decade pulls together several collaborators from his years making award-winning short films.

A young builder discovers a supernatural entity in the house he is renovating and uses the demonic spirit to exact revenge on the people who have wronged him.

‘I basically pulled in every possible favour to get this film made,’ says Barker. ‘I wanted to make a real anti-hero film. Something full of dread. I was inspired by George A. Romero’s quasi-vampire film, Martin, from 1977. It’s as low-budget as you can get, but contains some stellar performances, not least from my lead actor, Jason Adam, who, I believe, gives a tour de force turn as the very troubled young Peter Arrow.’

Produced by new micro-studio, Sladdinc Media, The House on Lidderman Street has just completed post-production and is looking to be placed with a distributor this autumn, alongside a festival run.

It stars newcomer Jason Adam (Baby on Board, Bluff), Lindsey Craine (How to Kill Monsters, Eating Miss Campbell), Johnny Vivash (Cara, Book of Monsters), Phil Molloy (Two Old Boys, Ripper Untold), Laura Rollins (BBC Doctors, Shining Tor), and Ross Berkeley Simpson (DI Ray, Kandahar).

Written and Directed by Andrew David Barker. Produced by Jeremy Sladdin for his own company, Sladdinc Media.

Andrew David Barker is also a co-screenwriter of Adam Park’s horror feature, The Wilding, starring Jördis Richter, Tim Plester, and Richard Brake, also due this autumn. His first feature, A Reckoning, starred Leslie Simpson and Axelle Carolyn and was completed in 2011. I interviewed Andrew, Leslie and Axelle about the film back in 2009/2010 and you can read my review here.
