Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later gets a trailer
Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, the director and writer of 2002’s 28 Days Later, have reunited for 28 Years Later. There was, of course, 28 Weeks Later in 2007 but Boyle and Garland were just executive producers on that film.
It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.
The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, and Edvin Ryding.
28 Years Later is scheduled to be released on 20th June 2025, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
A sequel, titled 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple, was shot back-to-back with 28 Years Later; it is directed by Nia DaCosta, with Boyle and Garland returning as writers and producers and Cillian Murphy reprising his role.
Ruined by sprinting zombies though, just makes survival unbelievable – and instant transformation too? When a partner instantly changes it takes away all the interesting choices of when to kill them or them hiding a bite – although I don’t remember how quickly it took effect in the first film.
Zombies can’t run because everything is basically rotting away and dead and the nervous system is taken over by a parasite/virus that would have far less ability for coordination of limbs for running and sprinting.
