Arrow Films have picked up The Last Video Store
Arrow Films have acquired rights in the UK and US to Canuxploitation delight The Last Video Store from sales agent Blue Finch Films. The film had its World Premiere at Fantastic Fest and went on to screen at the Calgary Underground Film Festival, NorthwestFEARFest, Blood in the Snow and FrightFest. THE LAST VIDEO STORE won the Best Picture and Best Editing Awards at Blood in the Snow.
In this love letter to the era of the video store, we follow Nyla who accidentally uncovers a ‘cursed’ VHS tape. A film holds the power to connect the real world to a dimension where movie fantasy exists as reality. Nyla and the video store owner unwittingly awaken a long-dormant curse that unleashes a series of classic cinematic villains plucked from the bowels of the B-movies themselves.
The film stars Yaayaa Adams (Next Stop), Kevin Martin (Straight to Video: The B-Movie Odyssey) and Matthew Kennedy (Father’s Day)
Acquisition Manager Cameron Waaler at Arrow said “The Last Video Store is a magnificent throwback to the 80’s horror films that we at Arrow all love and admire so it was a no brainer to acquire it. We are delighted to be able to work with both Cody and Tim to present this wonderful film to the UK and the US.”
Directors Cody Kennedy and Tim Rutherford added “Arrow Video is a staple of contemporary video stores and collector’s shelves. Our love letter to those places couldn’t have a better home.”
The deal was negotiated by Cameron Waaler at Arrow Films and Mike Chapman at Blue Finch. Arrow Films will target a December 2024 release on digital in the UK, US and Eire and a deluxe collector’s edition Blu-ray in the UK, US and Eire as part of its celebrated Arrow Video brand.
