Troma’s The Power of Positive Murder! is heading our way

Production of The Power of Positive Murder! inspired by Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s classic, Crime and Punishment – was officially announced today by Troma Entertainment Inc. executive VP, Michael Herz.

“I lied about #Shakespeare’sShitstorm being my last film as director,” says Lloyd Kaufman, president of Troma Entertainment. “Now, The Power of Positive Murder! will definitely be my “last hurrah” if I live through it. I’ve always loved the novel Crime and Punishment, especially with all the slapstick and ribald hilarity. Therein, Martin Murray will soon join the pantheon of genius writers discovered by Troma, like James Gunn, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Eli Roth, Trent Haaga, and Joe Lynch.”

“The Power of Positive Murder! is a love letter to auteur filmmakers like Samuel Fuller, pulp paperback novels, Russian literature, and most of all… TROMA!” says Columbia University graduate, Martin Murray. “Uncle Lloyd is the best director for this project, and I am very lucky.”

Kaufman and Murray will be joined by actor Debbie Rochon, star of Troma classics such as Tromeo & Juliet, Terror Firmer and #ShakespearesShitstorm.

Established in 1974 by Yale friends Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, Troma Entertainment is the longest-running, independent movie studio in North America, and it’s one of the very few genuine brand names in the industry.

Troma is world famous for producing & distributing classics such as Kaufman’s “The Toxic Avenger” which has been adapted into a new interpretation by Macon Blair. Produced by Legendary Pictures and stars Peter Dinklage, Kevin Bacon, and Elijah Wood.

Troma is also the home of Trey Parker’s “Cannibal! The Musical”, “Poultrygeist”, “Class of Nuke ‘Em High”, Charles Kaufman’s “Mother’s Day” & “Tromeo & Juliet”. Many of today’s luminaries can be found in Troma’s library of 1000 films, TV shows & shorts.

Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Costner, Fergie, Vincent D’Onofrio, Samuel L. Jackson, James Gunn & Eli Roth are just a few notable Troma-lumni.
