City of Love – Watch the trailer for the new neo-noir movie

Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has acquired North American VOD rights to the suspenseful comedic crime/thriller feature City of Love, directed by L.A.-based Spanish filmmaker Èric Boadella, will be available to rent/own on all digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms in North America, as well as on DVD, starting on December 19, 2023, through Freestyle Digital Media.

A twisted comedic thriller, CITY OF LOVE follows a troubled ex-con, Spencer, who drives for a ridesharing company in Los Angeles after forging the registration of his old red Chevy. He tries to reconnect with the world he lost after spending 20 years in jail for murdering his stepfather, but the more he drives, a string of bad experiences with his passengers leaves him feeling only more disconnected. When he falls in love with a passenger whose life eerily resembles that of his late mother, Spencer goes to dangerous and unnecessary lengths to protect her. As the tension escalates, Spencer finds himself entangled in a web of danger, love, and the unexpected.

Directed by Eric Boadella (TOASTMASTER, THE LAST MAN ON EARTH), CITY OF LOVE was written by Eric Boadella & Sara Pattarini (INTERVIEW WITH TED LARSSON). CITY OF LOVE was produced by Sara Pattarini, Èric Boadella and Byron Ashley (MISS ANNITY, BAD NIGHT). The featured cast includes Robert DeCesare (SUBWAY CAFE, MONDAY MORNING), Kathryn Schott (FAREWELL MR. BAKER, WHIP LORD), Taylor Nichols (METROPOLITAN, BARCELONA), Mario Tardón (RISEN, THE PROMISE), Daniel Reed Ferrell (NOT NOW, LOOK MIRA), and Kristen Vaganos (GENERAL HOSPITAL, DATING AFTER COLLEGE).

“I always wanted to make a movie about an antihero type of character becoming a rideshare driver,” said director Èric Boadella. “Our protagonist is an isolated man in the sprawling metropolis of Los Angeles, who against the odds becomes the city’s hero by shedding light on victims of the healthcare system.”

Freestyle Digital Media negotiated the deal to acquire CITY OF LOVE with Glen Reynolds of Circus Road Films on behalf of the filmmakers.
