Burning Land – Watch the trailer for the new Israeli coming-of-age drama

Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has acquired global VOD rights to the Israeli coming-of-age feature film Burning Land, which will be available to rent/own on all digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms worldwide, as well as on DVD, starting on December 26, 2023, through Freestyle Digital Media.

BURNING LAND explores the root causes of the century-long Israeli/Palestinian conflict. The film follows Yair, a neglected teenager from Haifa who escapes to the outskirts of the contested Samaria region, where he finds companionship among a gang of settler teenage runaways, known as The Baladim (“The indigenous”). The Baladim welcome Yair and enroll him in a Yeshiva led by Rabbi Grunberg, a secret supporter of their radical ideology. In this utopia, Yair finds all he ever wanted, but a ground friction with the Palestinians and local law enforcement imperils his newfound home. BURNING LAND is a touching coming-of-age drama which deals with universal issues of belonging, and one’s ability to determine their own fate despite circumstances. Action packed and full of raw emotion, BURNING LAND takes viewers on a journey to the depths of the ravaged land of Samaria.

Directed by Liran Shitrit, BURNING LAND was co-written and produced by Stav Shalev & Liran Shitrit. BURNING LAND features an ensemble cast that includes Asaf Hertz (‘Yair’), Nathan Ravitz (‘Rabbi Grunberg’), Riki Blich (‘Limor’), Yael Levental (‘Naomi’), Barak Friedman (‘Shimon’), Lior Mashiach (‘Chico’), Itzik Seidoff (‘Mordechai’), and Eitan Saad (‘Chief Benny’).

“With BURNING LAND, we wanted to tell a personal coming-of-age story, set in this disputed region of the world,” said filmmakers Liran Shitrit & Stav Shalev. “Its heroes are just boys, who above all else search for a place to call home but find only violence instead.”

Freestyle Digital Media negotiated the deal to acquire BURNING LAND with Stav Shalev and Conan Entertainment.
