The Spider Baby remake wraps

The classic horror film Spider Baby just wrapped a long-awaited remake, set to captivate audiences with a thrilling blend of nostalgia and modern twists. The new film, spearheaded by acclaimed cult filmmaker Dustin Ferguson (“Nemesis 5”, “Mega Ape”), promises to reimagine the beloved cult film for a new generation of horror enthusiasts.

One of the most exciting aspects of this remake is the involvement of the original film’s director, Jack Hill, who served as the Executive Producer for this project – ensuring a respectful homage to the 1967 cult classic. The original film starred Lon Chaney Jr., Jill Banner, Carol Ohmart, Quinn Redeker, Beverly Washburn, Sid Haig, Mary Mitchel, Karl Schanzer and Mantan Moreland.

In a delightful twist, Beverly Washburn, a notable presence from the original “Spider Baby” as “Elizabeth” returns to the film in a new role. Washburn’s inclusion adds an extra layer of nostalgia and continuity, allowing fans to relish in the connection between the original and the remake.

Joining the cast is Ron Chaney, the grandson of the legendary Lon Chaney Jr. His appearance in the film pays tribute to the Chaney family’s profound legacy in the horror genre, and Grandfather’s involvement in the original as lead “Bruno”, contributing to the remake’s authenticity and depth.

Additionally, the film features the talented Brinke Stevens, best known for her role in 1982’s “Slumber Party Massacre”. Robert Mukes of “House of 1000 Corpses” rounds out the genre talent as “The Storyteller”.

Adding to the creative team is the esteemed Jeff Burr, known for his work on “Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III,” who served as the Creative Consultant. Burr’s expertise and deep understanding of the horror genre contribute to the film’s overall vision, ensuring a well-crafted and compelling viewing experience.

Director Dustin Ferguson’s passion for horror and the original film makes him the perfect candidate to have taken on the remake of “Spider Baby.” With a keen eye for atmospheric visuals, Ferguson brings a fresh perspective to the story, elevating it to new heights while remaining true to the original’s essence. The film is currently in post-production, with a premiere planned for this Halloween in Santa Ana, CA.
