Let’s look back at Vince Vaughn’s career before he gets Dragged Across Concrete

Long known as a Hollywood funnyman, Vince Vaughn has been proving his dramatic chops in recent years. Take a look back at his career before he hits screens in DRAGGED ACROSS CONCRETE, the latest brutal drama from Bone Tomahawk director S. Craig Zahler.

Swingers (1996)

6 months after breaking up with his long-term girlfriend and moving from New York to LA to (unsuccessfully) boost his acting career, Mike (Jon Favreau) is forced on a trip to Las Vegas to get back out on the town and into the social scene again. His best buddy Trent (Vince Vaughn), a self-proclaimed master of seduction, tries to teach him to flirt and after more than a few unsuccessful tries he meets the wonderful Lorraine, sparking a welcome new romance… Swingers is based on Jon Favreau’s own real-life experience and relied on his friends Vince Vaughn and Ron Livingston to cheer him up.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004)

Peter La Fleur (Vince Vaughn) is a down on his luck gym owner whose situation gets even worse when a competing gym run by health nut White Goodman (Ben Stiller) looks to put him out of business unless he can raise $50,000 to pay off his mortgage. Desperate, he finds a dodgeball contest with a big cash prize and gathers a few of his friends to start a team, going head to head with White in a dramatic dodgeball showdown. According to the cast members the hardest part about filming the dodgeball scenes was trying not to flinch when they knew they were going to be hit by a ball. Ouch!

Hacksaw Ridge (2016)

Based on the true story of Desmond T. Doss, Andrew Garfield plays an American Army medic who refused to use any weapons while out in the field the Battle of Okinawa. Though seen as cowardly by his peers and superiors, including Sergeant Howell (Vince Vaughn), he proved them wrong by saving 75 men without firing a single bullet. Desmond T. Doss became the first man in American history to receive a Medal of Honour who never fired a weapon. The whole of Hacksaw Ridge was filmed in fifty-nine days.

Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017)

Vaughn’s first collaboration with director S. Craig Zahler, Brawl in Cell Block 99 sees him in the role of Bradley Tomas, a former boxer who loses his job and whose marriage is on the rocks. Desperate, he turns to drug dealing to support his pregnant wife but when a deal goes wrong, he ends up in prison. The gang kidnaps his wife and force him on a brutal mission to kill the prisoner in the super secretive cell block 99 before they will agree to let his wife go free. Vince Vaughn trained as a boxer for 3 months before shooting the film.

Dragged Across Concrete (2018)

Vaughn’s next collaboration with Zahler follows two policemen, an old timer (Mel Gibson) and his younger partner (Vince Vaughn), who get suspended when a video of their strong-arm tactics is leaked to the media. With little money and no options, the embittered policemen descend into the criminal underworld and find more than they wanted waiting in the shadows.

Dragged Across Concrete is in cinemas April 19th
