George Gallo’s movie Bigger about Joe and Ben Weider, the founders of the Mr. Olympia bodybuilding contest, has tapped Mr. Universe 2014 Calum Von Moger to play Arnold Schwarzenegger onscreen. The brothers, who co-founded the International Federation of Bodybuidling, discovered Schwarzenegger and encouraged him to come to the U.S. Also joining the cast of Bigger, which is currently shooting in Alabama, are Robert Forster, Tom Arnold, Max Martini, DJ Qualls, and Steve Guttenberg. Previously announced, Tyler Hoechlin plays Joe Weider, Dunkirk‘s Aneurin Barnard plays brother Ben, Kevin Durand is Bill Hauk, Julianne Hough plays Joe’s wife Betty, Victoria Justice is Joe’s first wife while Colton Haynes will play Jack LaLanne – Deadline

– At the Lumière Film Festival, director of the festival, Thierry Fremaux, revealed that Guillermo del Toro is making a documentary about Michael Mann. That’s all we know about that.

Karl Urban was asked about whether he would play Judge Dredd in the Mega-City One TV show. This is what he said, “I’ve had many discussions with them [Rebellion] about my involvement, of which I am interested, and I said to them, ‘Listen, if you write a character that has a function and a purpose and contributes to the overall story, then I might be very interested in reprising that role.’ I certainly wouldn’t want to step into it and just pay lip service to the movie. There has to be some material there that warrants further exploration of that character. So the ball’s in their court.”ScreenRant

Michael Mando (Better Call Saul) has been cast in Kim Nguyen’s drama, The Hummingbird Project, along with previously announced Jesse Eisenberg, Salma Hayek, and Alexander Skarsgard. The film follows New York native cousin, Vincent and Anton, who are players in the high-stakes game of High Frequency Trading, with a dream to build a fiber-optic cable straight between Kansas and New Jersey, making them millions – Deadline

– More than a year after CBS passed on its Sarah Shahi-fronted Nancy Drew, NBC is teaming with Tony Phelan and Joan Rater to redevelop the drama. The project, which is in development, has an entirely new logline at CBS despite hailing from the same producing team and studio (CBS Television Studios) – “When the author of the most famous female teen detective series is thrust into a real-life murder mystery, who does she turn to for help? Her two best friends from childhood, who were the inspiration for all those books, and the women who have a real ax to grind about the way their supposed best friend chose to portray them all those years ago.”THR

– The ABBA movie musical sequel Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! has added the legendary Cher to the cast – Deadline

– NBC is teaming with Imagine TV to reboot the 2002 surf movie Blue Crush. The drama, which is in development, is being written by Hannah Schneider (Reign), who will executive produce the Universal Television drama alongside Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo. Jillian Kugler will oversee for Imagine. As in the feature — which spawned a direct-to-video sequel — the NBC take tells the story of female empowerment and ambition in the world of Hawaii’s North Shore. In the wake of a tragic accident, a surfer works to revive her career and bring pride to a local community threatened by commercialism and dangerous surf politics. Even in paradise, you never know what chaos is brewing inside the barrel – THR

– This cool Stranger Things short film is The Story of Henry and Dale.

– The CW has put in development Dead Inside, an hourlong drama from writer Katie Lovejoy, Warner Bros. TV and Bill Lawrence’s studio-based Doozer Productions. After surviving an explosion that killed her hotshot detective big brother, an underachieving beat cop starts seeing his ghost, flipping their sibling dynamic on its head and allowing her to truly live her life for the first time, as they work together to help crime victims both living and dead, and figure out the unfinished business keeping his spirit on Earth. I think the creators of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) may want to get in touch about this one! – Deadline
