Video Essay – Wong Kar Wai: Colour Obsession

This video essay is an analysis of Wong Kar Wai’s use of colours. WKW is without doubt, one of cinema’s great colourists. His films are renowned for their distinctive style, in which colours segue and blur into each other.

Colour in films are a product of collaboration between the director and his cinematographer, in this case: Christopher Doyle. Colour is one of the most powerful factors in someone’s psychological build.
