Video Essay: Trainspotting vs T2 Trainspotting

The first trailer for Danny Boyle’s T2 Trainspotting was released this week and I really liked the look of it.

Candice Drouet took a good long look at the trailer and put together this great video. It matches up scenes from the new trailer with those from the original film.

The scene with Renton and his Dad in the kitchen is especially touching when compared with the first film. Great use of shadows.

The new film reunites director Danny Boyle with screenwriter John Hodge and all of the principal cast of the 1996 film – Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner and Robert Carlyle reprise the iconic roles of Renton, Sick Boy, Spud and Begbie.

T2 hits cinemas on 27th January 2017.
