Andrew Haigh’s A Long Winter gets a new poster and a UK release date

MUBI, the global distributor, streaming service and production company, is delighted to announce the release date of Andrew Haigh’s (All of Us Strangers, 45 Years) highly anticipated new feature film, A Long Winter, alongside its official teaser artwork. Starring Fred Hechinger (Thelma, Gladiator II), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear, The Fantastic Four: First Steps), Caitríona Balfe (Belfast, Ford v Ferrari, Outlander), Kit Connor (Heartstopper, Warfare, Rocketman), and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Warfare, Reservation Dogs), the film will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on 15 January, 2027.

Following its world premiere at the 2026 Telluride Film Festival, the film has been selected for the 70th BFI London Film Festival, where it will receive its UK premiere on 14 October.

A Long Winter was shot on location in Alberta, Canada, with a creative team including cinematographer André Turpin (Mommy, Incendies), production designer Emmanuel Fréchette (Wayward, The North Water) and editor Jonathan Alberts (All of Us Strangers, 45 Years).

Andrew Haigh most recently directed the critically acclaimed All of Us Strangers, which received six BAFTA Award nominations, including Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. The film won Best Picture and six other awards out of fourteen British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) nominations, including Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for Haigh, and Best Supporting Actor for Paul Mescal. All of Us Strangers was also the recipient of four Gotham and three Independent Spirit Awards nominations. His previous feature credits include Lean on Pete, 45 Years and Weekend.
