Lionsgate UK announced that Ghosts: The Possession of Button House will be released in cinemas nationwide across the UK and Ireland on Friday 23 October 2026. Halloween half-term is going to be especially haunting this year as the award-winning BBC comedy GHOSTS is brought to the big screen.
The plot is under wraps as filming continues at West Horsley Place and at locations across the South East of England.
Directed by Simon Hynd, the film stars Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond, Lolly Adefope, Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe.
Lionsgate will release in the UK and Ireland and BBC Studios is handling global sales. BBC Film presents in association with BBC Studios a Monumental Production.

Produced by Monumental Television, GHOSTS ran for five series on BBC One, with the final episode watched by 7.2 million viewers. It was the most-watched comedy series of 2023 in the UK. The hit US version of the series is currently in its fifth season, produced by Lionsgate Television in partnership with CBS Studios and BBC Studios LA, with a sixth season already commissioned. Internationally, the format has now been licensed in six territories, most recently in Czechia, with local versions also produced in France, Germany, Australia and Greece. The series and format are distributed by BBC Studios.
