The Regulars – Watch the trailer for the new comedy-drama set in London’s Prince Charles Cinema

The Regulars, a feature-length comedy-drama inspired by real-life experiences of staff at London’s iconic Prince Charles Cinema, will be released in select UK cinemas from August 22.

Set and filmed entirely in the beloved independent cinema, The Regulars captures a day in the life of its hapless team of employees. Between ushering movies, arguing with difficult customers, and navigating their own internal dramas, the staff must also learn to survive each other.

Written and directed by Fil Freitas, a former usher turned manager at the Prince Charles Cinema, the film offers a rare and intimate look at life behind the counter. “It’s not a documentary, but it’s close enough,” says Freitas, whose personal experience lends the film its authenticity and tongue-in-cheek, dry humour.

Shot in black and white and presented in 4:3 aspect ratio, The Regulars evokes a timeless aesthetic, emphasising the claustrophobic nature of the film’s setting. The ensemble cast comprises amateur and professional actors, adding to the film’s realism.

The film stars Fil Freitas, Dusty Keeney, Ricardo Freitas, Lauren Shotton, Kevin Johnson, Lisa Marie Flowers, Sergio Barba, Bronte Appleby, and Robert Smith.

With its unique visual style, and knowing narrative, The Regulars is poised to become a cult favourite, particularly among those who have ever worked in the leisure, hospitality, and customer service industries.

The Regulars opens in select UK cinemas from August 22 and will be previewing at Sheffield Film Festival on August 7 at Showroom Cinema. Visit www.theregularsfilm.com for more information.
