There are a lot of Spider-Women in the first Madame Web trailer

“Meanwhile, in another universe…” In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.

That’s right, it is another film based on characters who appeared in the Spider-Man comics, but with no actual appearance from the Spidey. Still, we do at least get some glimpses of various Spider-Women in this teaser.

Madame Web
first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #210, published November 1980, and was created by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr.

Directed by SJ Clarkson, the film stars Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts and Adam Scott.

Dakota Johnson is Madame Web. Sydney Sweeney is Julia Carpenter. Isabela Merced is Anya Corazon. Celeste O’Connor is Mattie Franklin. Tahar Rahim is Ezekiel Sims. Emma Roberts is Mary Parker and Adam Scott is Ben Parker.

For those of you who know your Spider-Man characters and lore, you can see they are taking a deep dive into his supporting cast with this film. To be honest, the trailer does intrigue me and I do love a bit of seeing into the future type shenanigans.

Then there is this video which gives us some more information on the main character.

Madame Web hits cinemas on 14th February 2024.
