Monty Python’s Life of Brian returns to UK cinemas this Easter

This Easter, the hilarious, controversial and timeless comedy classic Monty Python’s Life of Brian is showing in UK cinemas from 7th April.

A smash hit on its original release in 1979 (and banned in Harrogate), MONTY PYTHON’S THE LIFE OF BRIAN, about an ordinary man who is mistaken for the Messiah in Judea in 33 CE, has gone on to be named as No.1 in Channel 4’s 50 Greatest Comedy Films poll, is one of the Top 250 movies on IMDb, and has a staggering 96 percent on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer.

The film tells the story of Brian (Graham Chapman), a reluctant would-be messiah who rises to prominence as a result of a series of absurd and truly hilarious circumstances providing ample opportunity for the entire ensemble to shine in multiple roles as they mock everyone and everything from ex lepers, Pontius Pilate and the art of haggling to crazy prophets, Roman centurions and crucifixion.

Directed by Terry Jones, and written by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Michael Palin and Terry Jones, with the six stars of the legendary comedy troupe playing multiple characters. Former Beatle George Harrison set up Handmade Films to finance the film. It is still as irreverent, outrageous, timely, and laugh-out-loud funny as when it was first released.
