  1. Talking of new movies and ignoring The Gray Man watch out for and don’t miss the film Rogue Agent about the real MI6 conman Robert Freegard starring James Norton and Gemma Arterton. The film was produced by Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson. Fact is often stranger than fiction, so this real life film is intense and makes for scary watching. It makes a great change from all these fictitious grey men ruining our escapism with torturous scenes!

Indeed, ignoring the fact based Operation Mincemeat and The Courier, there’s almost too much fictional espionage on the menu to cope with so why not try reading instead. If you liked watching or reading Deighton, Herron or Wynne productions, we suggest a noir fact based espionage masterpiece could do the trick. One compelling thriller springs to mind. It’s a down to earth curious real life Cold War novel you’ll never put down, the first stand-alone thriller in The Burlington Files.

Anyway, if you liked Bill Fairclough’s epic spy novel Beyond Enkription in The Burlington Files series or The Courier, the Cumberbatch film about Greville Wynne, you should love Rogue Agent and vice versa. Just like Ben Macintyre’s The Spy and the Traitor about KGB Colonel Oleg Gordievsky, these are all “must reads or must views” for espionage cognoscenti.
