Ridley Scott is cutting Kevin Spacey from All The Money In The World and reshooting with Christopher Plummer

Directed by Ridley Scott, the film stars Michelle Williams, Mark Wahlberg, Charlie Plummer, Romain Duris, Timothy Hutton, Andrew Buchan, and Marco Leonardi.

ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD follows the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer) and the desperate attempt by his devoted mother Gail (Michelle Williams) to convince his billionaire grandfather to pay the ransom. When Getty Sr. refuses, Gail attempts to sway him as her son’s captors become increasingly volatile and brutal. With her son’s life in the balance, Gail and Getty’s advisor (Mark Wahlberg) become unlikely allies in the race against time that ultimately reveals the true and lasting value of love over money.

It also starred Kevin Spacey as J. Paul Getty. However, with all the allegations surrounding the actor, Sony had pulled the movie from AFI Fest. However, they were still planning to release it on 22nd December. Sony and Scott felt this was only fair to the many hundreds of other people who worked on the film.

It seems they are going one step further and are cutting Spacey out of the film altogether. Scott is now going to reshoot those scenes with Christopher Plummer (the original choice for the role). Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg have also agreed to film the reshoots.

They’ve got six weeks to get it all done before the film is released. They cannot really postpone the release date as FX’s Trust TV show, due out in January 2018, deals with the same story. That one has Donald Sutherland playing J. Paul Getty. Spacey worked about eight to ten days on the film so the reshoots should be done quite quickly.

How do you feel about Spacey being cut from the film? Do you think the reshoots will entice people back to see the film or has the damage already been done?
