Cool Short: Batman vs Jack The Ripper

batman-ripper-600x326

James Campbell’s short film, Ripper, has finally hit the Interwebs and it is a cracker. Inspired by theGotham by Gaslight comic it features Batman going up against Jack the Ripper.

Gotham by Gaslight is a DC Comics Elseworlds tale by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola, with inks by P. Craig Russell. Set in 1889 it saw Bruce Wayne investigating a string of mysterious murders.

London – 1888, the Jack the Ripper murders are gripping the nation and the people of Whitechapel are growing increasingly scared… Chief Inspector Abberline is struggling to figure out who the killer is and with added pressure from above to catch the murderer his own demons begin to get the better of him.

But there is someone out there who wants to help…

Watching… in the shadows… waiting to strike.

The film stars Bill Fellows as “Abberline” and Donald Standen as “Batman.”

On the whole it is a fantastic short film with some great production values. My only gripe is that the music is a little overpowering in places and in some places doesn’t seem to fit. However, it is still a top Batman short.

  1. Really impressed well done
You have thought someone would have put together a feature film version by now

    • It is great work. Could definitely see a longer version working well.
