Luca Guadagnino’s Artificial gets a trailer

Artificial

NEON and Picturehouse Entertainment have released the trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s much anticipated new film ARTIFICIAL. The film stars Andrew Garfield as controversial OpenAI founder Sam Altman.

Oscar-nominated director Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Challengers) has teamed up with Emmy-award winning Saturday Night Live writer Simon Rich to tell the exceptionally timely story of Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the artificial intelligence company behind ChatGPT. The film is produced by David Heyman p.g.a., Jeffrey Clifford p.g.a., Luca Guadagnino p.g.a., Jennifer Fox p.g.a., and Simon Rich p.g.a. The film’s music and original songs are by Damon Albarn.

ARTIFICIAL chronicles the incredibly consequential days leading up to the sudden firing and reinstatement of Sam Altman, as the fate of who gets to control the technology at the centre of an AI arms race hangs in the balance.

With an outstanding ensemble cast including Andrew Garfield, Yura Borisov, Monica Barbaro, Cooper Hoffman, Jason Schwartzman, Chris O’Dowd, Ike Barinholtz and Mark Rylance, this sobering, darkly funny and urgent film will hit the Autumn festival circuit with screenings at both the New York Film Festival and the London Film Festival before arriving in UK and Irish cinemas in the New Year.

ARTIFICIAL will be released in UK and Irish cinemas by NEON and Picturehouse Entertainment from 22 January 2027.
