The Robocop series is given the greenlight by Amazon. I’d buy that for a dollar!

Back in 2024 came news that a new Robocop TV show was in development. Peter Ocko joined the project as a writer, executive producer, and showrunner. He has previously worked on Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies, The Office, Black Sails and a whole lot more. James Wan will executive produce under his Atomic Monster banner.

A giant tech conglomerate collaborates with the local police department to introduce a technologically advanced enforcer to combat rising crime — a police officer who’s part man, part machine.

Deadline reported that after a lengthy development process, Amazon MGM Studios has greenlighted the series.

Robocop is the latest project from the MGM IP slate to get a series order, following the Legally Blonde prequel Elle, which has been renewed for a second season, and Barbershop — both for Prime Video — as well as The Magnificent Seven for MGM+.

Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett executive produce Robocop through Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with co-executive producer Danielle Bozzone overseeing the series on behalf of the company. Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner, co-writers of the original 1987 RoboCop film, directed by Paul Verhoeven, will also serve as an executive producer.

I love the original film, and have a soft spot for the sequel. However the third film and the various other TV shows have all fallen flat for me. I am still curious to see what they do with the character in this new series. What do you want to see in the Robocop show?
