Top Gun is returning to cinemas to celebrate its 40th Anniversary

Some news makes you just feel old! However, I do have a soft spot for Top Gun, so the fact that both it and Top Gun: Maverick are returning to cinemas to celebrate the original’s 40th Anniversary is pretty cool.

A class of elite, hot shot Navy pilots at the Fighter Weapons School known as Top Gun push their aircraft and each other to the limits as they compete to be the best of the best. Tom Cruise stars as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the iconic 1986 blockbuster that defined a generation.

Directed by Tony Scott, the film stars Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, and Tom Skerritt.

Top Gun returns to cinemas on 13th May 2026.
