No Way Off – The new survival thriller starts shooting
Principal photography has commenced in Northern Ireland on NO WAY OFF, a high-concept female-driven survival thriller.
Over the course of one harrowing night on Christmas Eve, an exhausted single mother NADYA (Bakalova) and her infant child fall asleep on the bus home, waking hours later to find themselves abducted by the driver. As the bus heads further into the wilderness, the terrifying ride becomes a fight for survival, testing everything she has, to save her baby and herself.
NO WAY OFF stars Academy Award-nominee Maria Bakalova (The Apprentice, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), David Wilmot (Hamnet, House of Guinness, The Guard) and Andrew Gower (Outlander, Carnival Row, Black Mirror). The film is written by Gaby Hull (Cheat, Two Weeks to Live, We Hunt Together) and directed by award-winning filmmaker Brian Kelly (Downton Abbey, Dracula, Outlander).
Producers are Matthew James Wilkinson (Ballad of a Small Player, Yesterday, Choose or Die) of Stigma Films and Jamie Harvey (Firebrand, Cottontail, Long Day’s Journey into Night). Laura Rister is Executive Producing and her company Esme Grace is a financier, along with Head Gear Films, Northern Ireland Screen, OnSight and Altitude. The film is currently shooting on location in Northern Ireland and at Studio Ulster, a new state of the art virtual production facility in Belfast.
Altitude are handling worldwide sales and will be discussing the project with buyers in Berlin at the upcoming EFM. Rister is co-selling North American rights with Altitude. Head Gear Films (Executive Producers Phil Hunt, Compton Ross, Charlie Kemball) have both packaged and financed the project.
