Peachy Keen! Neil Gaiman’s Sandman is becoming a TV show over at Netflix

There have been numerous attempts to bring Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comic to the big and small screen, but none of them have worked out. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was going to direct and star in a movie based on the books back in 2013, but that project fell apart. Eric Heisserer was the most recent screenwriter attached to New Line’s take on the project, but he left in 2016 and said it would work better as a TV show than a movie.
Now THR is reporting that Netflix has signed what sources describe as a massive financial deal with Warner Bros. Television to adapt it into a live-action TV series. It is apparently the most expensive TV series that DC Entertainment has ever done.
The comic chronicles the adventures of Morpheus / Dream (of the Endless), who rules over the world of dreams. It ran for 75 issues from January 1989 until March 1996.
Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman, ABC’s The Catch, Grey’s Anatomy) will serve as showrunner on the straight-to-series show. Gaiman will executive produce alongside David Goyer.
Neil Gaiman has said the first season will be 11 episodes long and he hopes they “can make something on television that feels as personal and true as the best of the Sandman comics did.”
The first season will be eleven episodes. That's the start of it all. Preludes and Nocturnes and a little bit more. https://t.co/tOlfJ1kS1y

I'm hoping we can make something on television that feels as personal and true as the best of the Sandman comics did. Just set thirty years later than Sandman the comic. https://t.co/Wy8y4aDbdE

There is now word on who will be starring in the show, but who do you feel would be good to play Morpheus?
I am glad that it is going to become a TV show as I do feel the excellent comic book will work so much better that way as opposed to a film or two.
