Jason Reitman will direct and co-write a new Ghostbusters film set in the world of the original 1984 movie, which was directed by his father, Ivan Reitman.

The new film is thought to focus on a single mom and her family. The film stars Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel), Carrie Coon (The Leftovers) and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, IT). Sigourney Weaver recently confirmed that she and the original cast of Ghostbusters were coming back for the sequel. Annie Potts also announced that she would be back for the new film.

Today saw Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) confirm he was also appearing in the film.

He is thought to be playing a school teacher.

Jason Reitman said “I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for Wet Hot American Summer at Sundance. I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe.”

The new film is due out on 10th July 2020.
