Denis Villenueve’s Dune begins filming. Hans Zimmer will provide the score


Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Arrivial, Blade Runner 2049) is working on a new adaptation of DuneLegendary acquired film and TV rights to the Frank Herbert novels Dune in 2016 and they plan on making multiple films.

Filming has now begun on the film and it will take place in Budapest and Jordan.

Hans Zimmer will be composing the score. He worked with Villeneuve on Blade Runner 2049 when he co-composed the scorewith Benjamin Wallfisch.

Greig Fraser (Rogue One, Vice) is the cinematographer on the film. Jacqueline West (The Revenant) is designing the costumes alongside Bob Morgan.

Warner Bros. has scheduled Legendary’s adaptation to be released on 20th November 2020, which is the weekend before Thanksgiving.

The film has also now got an official synopsis:

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
