The new Hellboy movie gets a trailer

Hellboy is back, and he’s on fire. From the pages of Mike Mignola’s seminal work, this action-packed story sees the legendary half-demon superhero (David Harbour, “Stranger Things”) called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants. There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich, Resident Evil series), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy is now hell-bent on stopping Nimue without triggering the end of the world.

Directed By Neil Marshall, Hellboy also features Ian McShane (John Wick), Daniel Dae Kim (“Hawaii Five-0” and “Lost”), and Sasha Lane (American Honey).

Summit Entertainment and Millennium Films presents, a Lawrence Gordon/Lloyd Levin production, in association with Dark Horse Entertainment, a Nu Boyana production, in association with Campbell Grobman Films.

I do like Hellboy and I enjoyed the Guillermo del Toro films, but I am not sure about that trailer. Lots of great visuals, but I don’t feel the music works with it. Previous reports had said it was going to be closer to the source material, but the tone in the trailer doesn’t seem quite right. Feels like it is trying too hard to be funny. It is almost like a Hellboy film that has been made in the universe that Ron Perlman’s Hellboy lives in! Hopefully, it is just the trailer giving the wrong impression. David Harbour does have great charisma so I hope that comes through in the film.

It is only 2 minutes worth of footage so I am still feeling hopeful.
