"No matter where you go, there you are."

Watch Florence Pugh and Dwayne Johnson in the new trailer for Stephen Merchant’s Fighting With My Family

Stephen Merchant (The Office, Logan) directed comedy-drama about British wrestler Paige. The film is called Fighting with my Family and stars Florence Pugh (Lady Macbeth) in the lead role, alongside former WWE star Dwayne Johnson, who also executive produces. Johnson and Merchant worked together on The Tooth Fairy.

Based on a true story, FIGHTING WITH MY FAMILY follows reformed gangster Ricky, wife Julia, daughter Paige and son Zak as they make a living wrestling together in tiny venues. When Paige and Zak get the opportunity to try out for WWE, the family grabs a once-in-a-lifetime chance to turn their wildest dreams into a dazzling future. However, brother and sister quickly discover that to become superstars, both their talent and their relationship will be put to the test. FIGHTING WITH MY FAMILY is a heartwarming and smart comedy that proves everything is worth
fighting for when it comes to family.

Paige, real name Saraya-Jade Bevis Miller, is a two-time Divas Champion and was the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion in WWE’s developmental branch, NXT. She held both championships concurrently, making her the first female to hold two championships at the same time in WWE history.

The film is inspired by the Channel 4 British documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting With My Family and tells the story of reformed gangster and former wrestler Ricky, his wife Julia, daughter Saraya and son Zak who make a living performing in tiny venues across the country. Ricky and Julia want a better life for their children and when brother and sister get the chance to audition for WWE, it seems the family dream is coming true and all their troubles will be solved. However, Saraya and Zak are about to learn that becoming a WWE Superstar demands more than they ever imagined possible as athletes and siblings. Wrestling has always kept this family together – but now it could tear them apart.

The film also stars Jack Lowden, Nick Frost, Lena Headey, and Vince Vaughn.

Fighting With My Family opens in UK cinemas on 1st Mach 2019. It hits US cinemas on 14th February 2019 in Los Angeles and New York and wide on 22nd February 2019.
