Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jurnee Smollett-Bell join DC’s Birds of Prey

Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Fargo) and Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Underground, Lovecraft Country) have been tapped to join Margot Robbie in the DC and Warner Bros. movie Birds of Prey, with Winstead playing Huntress and Smollett-Bell portraying Black Canary.
Robbie is reprising her role as Harley Quinn and is also producing with Sue Kroll and Bryan Unkeless.
It is still crazy that Barbara Gordon / Batgirl / Oracle is not in the film as she was the one who brought them together in the comics.
After splitting up with The Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroes – Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya – come together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord.
The big question is, will Black Canary still be using a blonde wig as her disguise?
Cathy Yan is directing the film, which is set to be released on 7th February 2020.
The villain of the piece will be the crime boss Black Mask and it seems that Ewan McGregor and Sharlto Copley are names being mentioned in connection to that character. Still early days for that piece of casting.
Still have Renee Montoya and Cassandra Cain's roles to cast as well as the crime lord up against the team. Hearing names like Sharlto and Ewan McGreggor are actors they like for the role but have only started meeting actors for that part https://t.co/OaVfpTfkyM
