Timothy Dalton joins the Doom Patrol TV show as The Chief

This is a lovely piece of casting as Timothy Dalton will be playing Dr Niles Caulder, aka The Chief, in the live-action Doom Patrol TV show. I’ve always liked Timothy Dalton. He was a great James Bond (let down by the scripts in my opinion) and was excellent in Penny Dreadful (how I miss that show). He should be perfect as The Chief.

DOOM PATROL is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities—but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence—and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of TITANS, DOOM PATROL will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.

The cast already includes Branden Fraser as the voice of Robotman April Bowlby as Elasti-GirlDiane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Joivan Wade as Cyborg and Alan Tudyk as the villain Mr Nobody.

The show will be part of the new streaming service, DCUniverse. Slated for release in 15th September 2018, fans in the United States can now pre-order DC Universe at for the yearly membership fee of $74.99 (plus tax, if applicable in your state). Monthly memberships will be available at launch for $7.99 a month.

At the heart of DC UNIVERSE will be all-new exclusive original live-action and animated series based on DC’s iconic characters. Developed by Warner Bros. Television, Swamp Thing and Doom Patrol are scheduled to debut in 2019, following the dramatic, live-action adventure series Titans which premieres later this year. Warner Bros. Animation is also developing a slate of animated TV series based on existing fan favorites, including Harley Quinn and the highly anticipated third season of the popular Young Justice: Outsiders animated series which are both scheduled to debut in 2019.
