"No matter where you go, there you are."

First Look at Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. Plus Skrulls, Ronan and more

Based on the Marvel comic character first appearing in 1968, the story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The film is not going to be the normal kind of origin movie. When the film starts, Carol already has her powers and she has left her earthly life behind to join an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law’s enigmatic commander.

You get to see Starforce below. As in the comics, the team includes Korath the Pursuer played by Djimon Hounsou. We also see Lee Pace as Ronan and get our first look at the Skrulls.

As the film is set in the 90s, Kevin Feige has said they will de-age Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg for the whole film. We can see how that looks in one of the images below.

Set for release in the United States on March 8, 2019, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is directed by the writing/directing team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. An all-star collective of accomplished writers penned the screenplay, including Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Liz Flahive & Carly Mensch, and Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck.

The film stars Academy Award winner Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, and Jude Law. Reprising their roles from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy are Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace, and returning once again to a Marvel Studios film will be Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson.

EW had the first look image and now I cannot wait to see a trailer.

“She can’t help but be herself,” said Larson talking about the character. “She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face. She’s also quick to jump to things, which makes her amazing in battle because she’s the first one out there and doesn’t always wait for orders. But the [not] waiting for orders is, to some, a character flaw.”
