HBO gives a series order for Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen TV show

HBO has given a series order for Damon Lindelof’s (Lost, The Leftovers) Watchmen TV show based on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ classic Watchmen graphic novel. Lindelof has said it will be a remix of the original comic!

Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, WATCHMEN embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.

It will debut at some point in 2019.

The show stars Regina King (American Crime, The Leftovers), Don Johnson (Book Club, Django Unchained), Tim Blake Nelson (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), Louis Gossett Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman, The Reason), Adelaide Clemens (Rectify, Parade’s End), Andrew Howard (The Oath, The Brave), Frances Fisher (Masters of Sex), Jacob Ming-Trent (White Famous), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The Handmaid’s Tale), Sara Vickers (The Crown), and Tom Mison (Sleepy Hollow).

King is said to be starring in the lead role, though the exact details of the characters are being kept under wraps.

I already went after the ending of the 2008 film in the podcast I do with Mike Spring. DC Comics have done the same with the Doomsday Clock storyline.
