Netflix gives the official greenlight for a Locke and Key series

We are finally getting a Locke and Key TV show based on the IDW comic by Joe Hill (Horns) and Gabriel Rodriguez (Little Nemo). Netflix has given the official greenlight for a 10 episode series.

Locke & Key follows Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode Locke as they discover that their family’s ancestral home features doors to other dimensions that can be unlocked with special keys hidden throughout the house. Fox actually filmed a pilot episode of Locke & Key which was very well-received in limited screenings after the project was abandoned.

Locke & Key previously reached the pilot stage back in 2010 at Fox with Josh Friedman writing, Mark Romanek directing, and Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci producing alongside DreamWorks TV. That version starred Sarah Bolger, Miranda Otto and Nick Stahl, but did not go to series.

Then in April last year, Hulu ordered a pilot, but did not pick it up.

Great to hear Netflix are going ahead with it. Carlton Cuse, who worked on the Hulu pilot, and Meredith Averill are showrunners and executive producers. The first episode will be written by Joe Hill and Aron Eli Coleite.
