"No matter where you go, there you are."

Gina Prince-Bythewood to direct The Old Guard film adaptation

Old soldiers never die…and some of them don’t even fade away. Cursed with immortality, Andromache of Scythia and her comrades-in-arms ply their trade for those who can find—and afford—their services. But in the 21st century, being immortal is a difficult secret to keep, and when you live long enough, you learn that there are many fates far worse than death.

Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Secret Life of Bees, Cloak and Dagger) is set to direct The Old Guard, Skydance’s adaptation of the Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez comic.

Prince-Bythewood is still attached to direct the Spider-Man spinoff Silver and Black, but that is going round and round in development hell.

I have not read The Old Guard, but I like Rucka’s work and it sounds almost like an updated version of Highlander, but they all work together! I’ve ordered the trade paperback so looking forward to reading that.

Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will produce the project, which hopes to shoot this fall in time for a release in 2019.
