Looks like Keri Russell has joined J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX

Damn! I hate the fact that reporting on a new Star Wars doesn’t leave me feeling excited anymore. I want to recapture that feeling. I enjoyed The Force Awakens, Rogue One and Solo, but The Last Jedi……I won’t go on, but you can read my thoughts on that film here.

Okay, let’s get back to it.

J.J. Abrams is directing Episode 9. Who knows where the story will go for that. Rian Johnson threw out many of the things that Abrams set up in The Force Awakens so will Abrams do the same for the film?

It looks like Keri Russell will be joining the cast. She is a fantastic actor so glad to see her onboard. Variety had the news. Russell and Abrams have worked together before on Felicity and Mission: Impossible III. Abrams will likely cast two more actors by the time the film begins production at the end of the month.

There is no word on who she is playing but let’s try and figure it out. Could she be Rey’s mother? Despite what was said in The Last Jedi that could work. Then there was the earlier news that Episode 9 was going to focus more on Carrie Fisher’s Leia, but as she sadly passed away could they rejig it so Russell’s character will take that spot. Who else could she be playing? Will she be on the side of the Resistance / Rebels or the First Order / Empire or whatever organisations they have now.

Hey, if they’d just cut that scene of Luke a little earlier they could have had Luke back.

What are your thoughts about Episode 9?

We also talked about The Last Jedi in After the Ending and talked about what we felt would happen in Episode 9. You can listen to that below.
