The Happy Death Day sequel moves forward

Blumhouse (Split, Get Out, Whiplash) produced Happy Death Day, and are working on the sequel. The original followed a college student (Jessica Rothe, La La Land) who relives the day of her murder with both its unexceptional details and terrifying end until she discovers her killer’s identity.

Jessica Rothe and Israel Broussard are returning for the Christopher Landon directed sequel.

Landon has said in reports that the sequel will answer questions to the first instalment’s endless time loop while Rothe has mentioned that part 2 will pick up where the first film left off.

Suraj Sharma (Homeland, Life of Pi) is also joining to play Samar Ghosh, a science enthusiast and geek who enjoys coding in his spare time. Sarah Yarkin is playing Dre Morgan, a science geek and tom-boy with a sleepy feline gaze who is Samar’s partner-in-crime.

The first film was lots of fun and I hope the sequel works as well.

Happy Death Day 2 will begin production on 10th May.
