Stranger Things Season 3 begins production with Cary Elwes and Jake Busey joining the cast

Netflix has just released this new video showing the cast and crew of Stranger Things getting together for the Season 3 table read.

Joining the cast are Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride), who will play the “handsome, slick, and sleazy” mayor of Hawkins, who is “your classic ’80s politician – more concerned with his own image than with the people of the small town he governs.”

Jake Busey (Starship Troopers, The Frighteners) will play Bruce, “a journalist for The Hawkins Post, with questionable morals and a sick sense of humor.”

Season 3 has also cast Maya Thurman-Hawke as one of the new leads and upped Priah Ferguson to a recurring role. Hawke will play an “alternative girl” bored with her mundane day job. She seeks excitement in her life and gets more than she bargained for when she uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins, Ind. Ferguson appeared last season in a guest role as Erica, Lucas’ strong-willed, little sister. The scene-stealer returns in the next installment with an army of her own friends. No longer content with sitting on the sidelines, Erica finds herself on a wild mission to save Hawkins from a dangerous new threat.

The show is executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, Shawn Levy, Iain Paterson, and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps. The release date of “Stranger Things 3″ has not yet been announced.
