This Star Wars: The Last Jedi deleted scene gives a better resolution to the Captain Phasma / Finn fight

The Last Jedi had problems and left me feeling disappointed (you can read my full review here). It was great seeing Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) again, but as with The Force Awakens, she felt wasted.

This deleted scene gives a different take on how things played out, but still results in her (apparent) demise. I do prefer it to what was in the film. It was good seeing Finn (John Boyega) mention how easy she rolled over in Starkiller Base and shows just how far she is willing to go to protect herself. It also has the classic Star Wars trope of a character losing a hand!

The scene is still not perfect and I can see how Finn stopping to say those things could bring things to a halt. However, my main issue with the film was pacing in general so I can’t see this harming the flow of the final film.

As it is a deleted scene not all of the visual effects were completed.

Check it out below and share your thoughts. The scene begins at the 1:46 mark.

We also talked about the film and what could happen in Episode 9 during an episode of the After The Ending podcast. You can listen to that below.
