Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film gets a title and Brad Pitt joins Leonardo DiCaprio

We already knew that Leonardo DiCaprio was in Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film, but he will now be joined by Brad Pitt (Inglourious Basterds).

The film now has a title – Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Tarantino has said that the film “takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbour… Sharon Tate.”

“I’ve been working on this script for five years, as well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old. I’m very excited to tell this story of an LA and a Hollywood that don’t exist anymore. And I couldn’t be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio and Pitt as Rick and Cliff.”

Margot Robbie has also been attached to the film for a while and it is thought she will be playing Sharon Tate. DiCaprio and Robbie worked together in The Wolf of Wall Street. DiCaprio previously starred in Tarantino’s Django Unchained.

Sony is handling distribution and the film is due out on 9th August 2019 – The 50th anniversary of the day that the Manson family committed the LaBianca murders and the day after Tate was killed.
