Morbius the Living Vampire is heading to the big screen

Sony finally got Spider-Man right when they teamed up with Marvel Studios for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

However, they are still going ahead with their own films set in the Spiderverse that will not part of Marvel Studios. Venom starring Tom Hardy is currently filming – it still seems that Spider-Man (Tom Holland) will not feature in that. I do hope that changes.

It seems that Sony will also be bringing us film based on Morbius the Living Vampire. Created by writer Roy Thomas and originally designed by penciler Gil Kane, the character first appeared as an antagonist in The Amazing Spider-Man #101. He has been both a hero and a villain over the years.

The character has been in some of the animated Spider-Man TV shows, but I cannot wait to see him on the big screen.

Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama ( they wrote Dracula Untold, Gods of Egypt, The Last Witch Hunter and the recent Power Rangers movie), wrote the script according to THR. Having seen what they have worked on (none of which really set the box office on fire) my excitement for the project has dropped.

Damn it! So much potential.

Sony is also not saying whether this film will be connected to the Tom Holland Spidey films or the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
