Castle Rock – Scott Glenn joins the Stephen King TV show

Castle Rock is a new Hulu original anthology show based on the works of Stephen King.

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories such as Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock. As a series, Castle Rock aims to explore various themes and worlds, uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.

Each season will follow a different set of characters and storylines but will reference or have links to events and characters from previous seasons.

The show has already cast Melanie Lynsky, Andre Holland, Jane Levy, Bill Skarsgard and Sissy Spacek. Now comes the news that Scott Glenn (The Right Stuff, Daredevil) is joining the show.

He will be playing Alan Pangborn, a retired sheriff who was around for some of the darkest years in Castle Rock’s checkered history. The character was in King’s Needful Things and The Dark Half.

Production is set to begin later this year, though an official premiere date has not yet been determined.
