Ron Howard will take over directing the Han Solo movie

After the surprising news that Phil Lord and Chris Miller would no longer be directing the Han Solo movie, there were a few names mentioned who could take over to bring it on home.

Turns out that Ron Howard will be the new director of Lucasfilm and Disney’s untitled Han Solo movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Howard is a solid director so I am happy with the choice. Filming was about three quarters of the way through so Howard will meet with the actors to try an calm what must be a pretty anxious and upset cast and crew. He will also look over a rough edit to see what the project has and still needs.

The movie was scheduled to shoot for three-and-a-half more weeks, with five weeks of reshoots built into the schedule.

The film stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, with Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.

How do you feel about Howard directing the film?
