Corey Stoll may play Buzz Aldrin in Damien Chazelle’s First Man

Damien Chazelle’s follow up to La La Land is First Man. Based on the book by James R. Hansen, First Man tells the story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong during the years between 1961 and 1969.

Ryan Gosling is set to star as Neil Armstrong, Claire Foy will play his wife. Kyle Chandler is nearing a deal to play original Mercury Seven astronaut Deke Slayton.

Corey Stoll (The Strain, Ant-Man) is currently in talks to play Buzz Aldrin so there is a great cast shaping up for this one. Aldrin was the second man to ever step on the moon following Armstrong. I also like the fact that Chazelle is doing something a bit different after the music infused double act of Whiplash and La La Land.

Written by Oscar winner Josh Singer (Spotlight), the film will be produced by Temple Hill’s Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen as well as Chazelle and Gosling. Isaac Klausner will serve as executive producer.

Universal will release First Man on 12th October 2018.
