It looks like Matt Reeves may be directing The Batman

When word came that Ben Affleck would not be directing The Batman, there were a few directors mentioned who Warner Bros. were looking at. It seems that Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, War for the Planet of the Apes) is the favourite as he is in talks with the studio to close a deal to direct.

Affleck is still very much involved as he is starring as Bruce Wayne / Batman, plus he wrote the current script with Geoff Johns. There is still no word on what the Caped Crusader will be getting up to in the film. Personally, I would like it to be a smaller kind of comic book movie. Batman doesn’t have to save the world in his own film, just deal with some messed up crime in Gotham. I would love to see a Batman film that just takes place over the course of one night – have him start with some low level thugs, which leads him onto a bigger crime. Please let us see why his called the World’s Greatest Detective.

Reeves did something similar when he took over the Planet of the Apes movies from Rupert Wyatt. I think this is a good choice by Warner Bros. and I hope we get a truly great DC Comic Book movie. At the moment it seems that The LEGO Batman Film is currently the best of the bunch in recent years.

How do you feel about Reeves directing The Batman and what would you like to see in the film?
