“The 1954 nuclear tests weren’t tests. They were trying to kill something.”

It seems that John Goodman’s character is hinting at Godzilla in this new spot for Kong: Skull Island. The original Godzilla movie was released in 1954. That does make sense as Legendary are planning a Godzilla vs King Kong movie for 2020.

Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) and written by John Gatins (Flight) and Max Borenstein (Godzilla), KONG: SKULL ISLAND will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. Legendary’s story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline.

In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

The new film stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Toby Kebbell, John Ortiz, Thomas Mann, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Shea Whigham, Eugene Cordero, and Marc Evan Jackson.

Kong: Skull Island is unleashed in March 2017.
