The new trailer for the Power Rangers movie was released last week and it showed many of the elements from the TV show.

However, Sebastian Hughes decided to give it a Mighty Morphin makeover by putting the original theme song over it and re-editing it in the style of the original show.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The new team is played by Becky G, RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), Naomi Scott, Ludi Lin, and Dacre Montgomery as Trini, Billy, Kimberly, Zack, and Jason, respectively. Elizabeth Banks is playing Rita Repulsa, who in this version is rumoured to be a former Power Ranger. Bryan Cranston is playing Zordon.

Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) is directing the new film. The screenplay is by John Gatins (Kong: Skull Island, Real Steel). Story is by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold) and Michele Mulroney & Kieran Mulroney. Producers are Power Rangers creator Haim Saban, Brian Casentini (“Power Rangers” TV series), Wyck Godfrey, and Marty Bowen (The Twilight Saga, The Fault in Our Stars, The Maze Runner franchise).
