Angela Bassett joins Marvel’s Black Panther

Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther. Bassett, who currently stars in “American Horror Story,” will play Ramonda, mother of T’Challa, aka Black Panther.

The film, directed by Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale Station,” “Creed”), also stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, ruler of Wakanda, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, and Forest Whitaker as Zuri, an elder stateman in Wakanda, Then there are Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Florence Kasumba as as Ayo and Danai Gurira as Okoye, members of the fierce Dora Milaje. Daniel Kaluuya (Sicario, Get Out) is T’Challa’s confidant W’Kabi, while Winston Duke (Person of Interest) plays M’Baku, leader of a rival tribe in Wakanda.

As usual Marvel are putting together a fantastic cast.

The film is due out on February 16, 2018.
