Mr Robot could be Freddie Mercury in Bryan Singer’s Queen movie

A film about the British band, Queen, has been knocking about for a while. Sacha Baron Cohen had been attached at one point to play Freddie Mercury, but that all fell through.

The film, Bohemian Rhapsody, is being pushed through over at 20th Century Fox. This time Bryan Singer (X-Men: Apocalypse) is in talks to direct, while Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) could be playing Freddie.

I love the idea of Malek playing Freddie Mercury. He is a superb actor and I he could do wonders with it. I do wonder whether Singer is the right choice for the film. His recent films have all felt a bit messy, and could have done with being tightened up and more focused.

The most recent script, which focuses on the band and its iconic lead singer, is from The Theory of Everything scribe Anthony McCarten. King and Jim Beach are producers, and Denis O’Sullivan is exec producer. Original Queen bandmembers Brian May and Roger Taylor will serve as music producers.

Filming is due to begin next year.

How do you feel about Rami Malek playing Freddie Mercury.
